Newburyport – The northernmost city in our study, Newburyport is a famous seafaring port with a large tourism industry. It is also a city of firsts. The first clipper ship was built in Newburyport. It was the site of the first “tea party” rebellion opposing British taxes, and the site of the first United States Coast Guard station.
